Gies Law Firm makes the process of filing your OMMA application as easy as filling out a client intake form.

Chances are if you have arrived at the OMMA (Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority) application process, you are in one of the final stages of opening a cannabis business in Oklahoma. You may already be aware, and we’ve got the data to demonstrate, that the OMMA application process is often the stickiest point on the path of realizing your business vision. At Gies Law Firm, we’ve taken it on to help navigate the OMMA application process from start to finish so that you can remain confident in your approval and focused on the other necessities of opening the doors to your dispensary or transporting the first few clones into your grow room.

Who has to apply for an OMMA license?

Anyone seeking to open a medical cannabis business, whether it be a grow, dispensary, testing lab or waste disposal, etc. will need to submit and meet all requirements of the OMMA application.

The most common application types we’re seeing are for growers, dispensary owners and processors. They’re all essentially the same, but each application type may have some unique variables — for example, processors must provide an Oklahoma Tax Permit number. All of them require a list of documents to satisfy state law and regulatory compliance.

What you will need

  • Affidavits of lawful presence for all owners and partners

  • Background checks for all owners and partners

  • Government issued identification for all owners and partners

  • Proof of residency for all owners and partners (keep in mind 75% ownership has to be held by an Oklahoma resident of two+ years).

  • Ownership Interest list

  • Ownership Disclosure documentation

  • Certificate of Compliance

  • Oklahoma Tax Permit

  • Trade Name Documentation (newish)

  • Certificate of Good Standing

  • $2500 (This is the cost of application for all license types)

If you plan to open multiple cannabis businesses—for example a grow and processing facility—you will need to submit applications specific to each business.
